Let’s get real for a quick second. There are just some days where you just really want to get to the course or the range.  And that means that we are running from wherever we were to get there in whatever we are wearing. Thankfully athleisure has made it easier to be fashionable while we are running errands & make it easier to pop on over to the course.

I still remember the days where I was going through multiple outfits to try and juggle my style between class, work, golf & workouts. Now workout clothes are so cute that you can basically wear them everywhere!

3 RULES TO FOLLOW

But there are some rules that you should follow when incorporating athleisure into your wardrobe. Check them out below!

Rule #1 Accessorize Appropriately

Try not to go crazy with the accessories. I think that mirrored sunglasses or a leather jacket are classic when trying to “dress up” your workout clothes.

Rule #2 Stick to Neutrals

It is okay to go a bit crazy sometimes but try to stick to neutrals as much as you can. Or at least have one piece that is a neutral. I like to stick to my black leggings and add a fun top in either a print, bright color or stripe.

Rule #3 Mix & Match

Invest in your pieces wisely. Go for a great black legging from Lululemon and then mix & match with other fun seasonal pieces.

MY FAVORITE ATHLEISURE BRANDS

To be honest, I wear a lot of different brands on (& off) the course,  but I do have a bunch of favorites that I have stuck with since the beginning.

Lululemon has been a favorite of mine since I bought my first pair of leggings over 6 years ago. I have also branched out to their skorts which are a huge hit whenever I have a long day on the range.

The material is great for all 4 seasons & the fit is amazing. I do have one tip for the skorts – if you have anything but short legs, you might want to make sure you get the “tall” version of every skirt. The skirts are a bit short but they make up with comfort.

Another athleisure brand that I absolutely love would be Athleta. Athleta is a great brand that also has a Tennis & Golf section on their site. There is a great selection of polo’s, skorts, shorts, jackets & layering tees.

Like the one to the right, I love their polo’s. They are super light, comfortable & they have a bunch of color options. The jacket & vest selection is also amazing. I absolutely love wearing their vests.

But if you are looking for something a little easier on the wallet, check out Target’s line. They have great activewear that can be used on & off the course. And if you are looking for more of an investment piece, Hedge-Quarters has traditional and elegant pieces that will look amazing on and off the course. They have amazing dresses, skirts & blazers that are truly one-of-a-kind  items that will make any outfit classy.

I hope that you liked the pieces that I have included in this post. The items range from every price range so check out any of the links and learn more about them. For more posts like this one, check out my Fashion page. Thanks for reading!

Playing golf in the summer can be a daunting task. Between the heat, the sun, the bugs & your own golf game, you are battling with a lot. It is hard enough to focus just on your golf game, but you have to focus on what you are wearing too?

I wanted to try and make it easier for you so here are some of my favorite summer golf clothes to help you stay cool on the course… even when it is 100+ degrees outside.

What to Wear

During the summer, the key is to stay cool even when it is so hot. I live in the south so it can get very hot & humid during the summer months. You have to battle the muggy heat and the scorching sun all while trying to concentrate on the 18th green with a birdie putt to win the match.

We don’t need anything else to worry about so having a wardrobe thats ready to take on the heat is most important. Since I have super fair skin and I have battled with skin cancer in the past, I am looking for coverage & breathability.

Even though sleeveless shirts are probably more “comfortable” to wear during the summer and they help avoid the t-shirt tan lines, I always opt for a shirt with sleeves. I don’t like to have to worry about my shoulders burning and when I am carrying my golf bag, having sleeves seems to be more comfortable when sweating a lot.

I try to find shirts that have a moisture-wicking, fast-drying and anti-microbial fabric. Shirts that are mostly polyester seem to be best during the summer months. I try to avoid most cottons June-August because the fabrics are thicker, absorb the moisture & retain the heat.

My favorite shirts are the Adidas Climacool Polo‘s & the Nike Dry Polos. The Nike Dry Polo is one of my favorites right now. It has the perfect amount of stretch, is moisture-wicking and it keeps you dry & cool throughout the whole round.

Now the bottoms can get quite tricky. There are so many different options now that it is exciting. I love wearing skirts/skorts when playing golf. I find that they are most comfortable. But I do not discriminate against shorts & pants. My dermatologist has actually suggested that I wear pants during the summer but I just can’t get away from my ruffled skirts.

I have been obsessed with Lululemon’s skirts for many years now. I found the pace setter skirt (which they no longer make) a couple years ago and fell in love so I went out and bought every color in my size that I could find. I think I have 10 different colors now. They are my go-to on the extra hot days.

Lululemon has now released their Circuit Breaker Skirt and it is very similar to the pace setter. It has a zip pocket in the back, two small pockets in the waistband & silicon grips on the inside of the spandex to keep everyone in its place. I haven’t tried this EXACT skirt yet but the staff at Lululemon have insured me that they are basically the same skirt, just without an extra ruffle on the bum.

Both Nike & Adidas have great options for shorts, skorts & pants that breathe comfortably for the summer. I have many options from both companies and they are all comfortable. The Nike Washed Dry Shorty is my favorite short & Adidas Rangewear Skort is so comfy.

There are so many options for women’s golf clothes now so you really just need to try out and see what fits you best. The different companies make their clothes different ways so you need to try on everything and figure out what fits your body type the best.

Cool Accessories

The accessories may be just as important as the clothes on some days. I find that the socks I wear and the hat/visor I am wearing can be just as vital to my golf game as the shorts I picked out.

I have been on a crazy rollercoaster ride with hats in my golf career. I started off wearing a traditional baseball cap, then opted to go hatless, went to a visor, back to baseball cap, then to a bucket hat, then to wide brim visor and now back to a bucket hat. I have literally tried them all. I am sticking with the bucket hat from now because it is what protects the best. The sun is so strong during the summer that it is just best for my skin to avoid it as much as possible.

I have switched to this Titleist Aussie bucket hat and it has been great! It breathes well, fits comfortably and has a chin strap for extra support on those windy days.

This is another instance where you really want to find what works best for you. Adidas, Under Armour & Nike all have bucket hat options, the Titleist one just worked best for me.

Now onto socks. This is all about comfort. When I was at the PGA show earlier this year, I tried on FootJoy’s new sock line – TechSof Tour Sport and it was awesome. There is so much support, comfort, breathability and the sock didn’t fall down. The technology going into their socks is amazing. Again, there are so many different options, you just have to try them out but I would definitely start with FootJoy.
